Natural Weight Loss Tips

Filed under: Weight Loss — Administrator @ 12:34 pm

Many companies and individuals want you to believe that natural weight loss is difficult to achieve but it’s just a case of not eating as much, and having enough regular exercise; although, not many people listen to this. This advice should be easy to comprehend – at least you would think it was; however, currently 35 percent of Americans are unable to prevent being overweight! The conflicting aspect is that a large percentage of overweight people are desperately trying to lose those pounds whether it is because they are tired of the looks they receive or for health reasons.

What most people do not realize is keeping at the right weight is much, much easier than losing it. Subconsciously we all know that if we do not maintain a healthy food program for ourselves, we will start to add extra pounds.

Studies have shown that it is more likely a person who has lost weight using a calorie controlled diet, even if they actually enjoyed it, are more likely to go back to their old eating habits at some point. There are many reasons why you should follow a natural weight loss regime and not become overweight, according to experts.

Most health experts contend that the significance of excess weight is more than cosmetic as it takes a huge toll on a person’s physical health. The basics of eating correctly whilst maintaining a healthy weight is not all that complicated, in fact most people know pretty well what is best and that is losing weight naturally.

Natural weight loss is about the food you eat so stick to those which are low in fat, contain carbohydrates, high in fiber and a moderate amount of protein. A meal containing this group would be something like a baked potato, vegetables and some meat, lean of course but it would not contain gravy or sour cream.

Dietary fat is a problem because it is full of calories which will be converted into body fat unlike calories that are consumed in food from other sources. Despite the number of either low fat or zero fat foods on the market, it’s a surprise that the American people continue to put on weight, but there is a very good reason for this.

The misconception is if you are eating something fat-free then you won’t be adding extra fat to your body but all food contains calories, just not always in the form of fat. The term fat-free can be a trap if you start to believe that you can eat any amount of fat-free food when it is far better to respond to hunger with healthy snacks.

It is believed in some circles that a natural method of weight loss is to eat less but more often without actually missing meals, which can get you into bad habits. Natural weight loss is a lifestyle choice not a fad; hence, it takes a great deal of determination, self-control, and discipline to achieve your ideal weight.

A Strong Body Is A Sexy Body

Filed under: Exercise Tips — Administrator @ 11:09 am

So, you’ve tried everything to get rid of the extra weight. You’ve tried diets, and herbs. You’ve tried lotions and potions and pills. You’ve tried thinking yourself thin, and mantras in the mirror. You’ve tried steaming it off, soaking it off, stress reduction techniques and maybe even a seaweed detox body wrap or two. But have you tried exercise? I mean, really, truly, honestly given good old fashioned exercise a go?

I’m not talking about going to the gym for a couple of weeks, and then not following through. I’m not talking about being a weekend warrior either. What I’m talking about is your daily and weekly exercise plan that you’ve stuck to for over two months. If you aren’t nodding your head “yes”, then it’s time to re-examine the benefits of what exercise really CAN do for you!

Regular exercise (about four hours a week) provides the body with numerous life-enhancing benefits! Exercise cuts high blood pressure, balances your moods, helps you to sleep better, improves eye sight, tones the muscles and organs, boosts your energy, revs up your sex life, clears the mind, enhances memory, and oh yeah… exercise burns fat too!!!

If you don’t like exercise, it’s because you’re viewing it as a dreaded chore. Exercise can be a lot of fun if you choose an activity that appeals to you! There are many great ways to get your exercise and enjoy yourself at the same time. Include some friends so you have a support group and someone to visit with while you work out.

Here is a list of exercise ideas. Pick one and stick with it for four hours this week. Next week pick something new or different if you like.

Who says exercise can’t be fun? Try hiking, swimming laps, yoga, Pilates, snowboarding or skiing, jogging, rollerblading, walking the dog (briskly), a game of “tag” with the kids, jump rope, dancing, tennis, racquetball, football, biking, soccer, basketball, aerobics class, Jazzercise, spinning, snowshoeing, backpacking, golf (without the cart), sex, jumping on a trampoline, or one of the billion exercise videos out there!

As you begin this endeavor, you’re going to need to pace yourself. If you over do it on the first day and can’t walk upright for the rest of the week, you’re setting yourself up for failure and you will continue to hate exercise.

Start by drinking two 8 ounces glasses of water about an hour before you begin. Take ten minutes to stretch, really feeling your muscles. Tell them they are getting longer and stronger every day. As you begin to do your chosen activity, concentrate on just getting your blood flowing for the first 10-15 minutes. Concentrate on your breath. Make sure that you are breathing! If you’re struggling to catch your breath, keep moving; just slow it down until you can breathe with ease again.

As you move past your “warm-up” phase, your aim should be to get your heart rate up and to sweat! A good way to get your target heart rate is to simply subtract your age from the number 220. Take small sips of water throughout the duration of your workout. Again, be mindful of your breath and just simply bring it down a notch if you find yourself gasping for air. When you are done, take another 10 minutes or so to stretch out again. You’ll be amazed at how good it feels to stretch out after a workout! You will almost be able to hear your muscles thanking you!

It’s good to consume lean protein within an hour of ending your workout. This will help you re-build your muscles. Building your muscle mass is key to weight loss. Did you know that muscle eats fat? Muscle will continue to burn fat even when you are at rest! Good muscle tone is also important to protect you from the devastating effects of osteoporosis. You don’t need to worry about doing anything radical to develop muscle tone, or about over building your muscles. Just focus on getting your four hours of exercise a week, and your body will naturally take care of the rest. Of course, if you are interested in weightlifting, there are many benefits. However, it is common for people to hurt themselves by lifting too much, too soon. I strongly advise educating yourself before beginning a weight lifting program. Consult a trainer who has experience in this area and listen to your body!!!

My personal favorite types of exercise are hiking with my husband, as well as yoga, Pilates and using the Elliptical machine at the gym.

With hiking, I just love getting out into the fresh air and sunshine! Once you’ve got a good pace set for yourself, you can easily burn hundreds of calories in just a few hours. Plus it’s easy to stop when you need to catch your breath, or take a sip of water. There are always so many wonders to behold while hiking, that it doesn’t feel like dreaded exercise. It’s a great way to calm the nerves too!

Pilates and yoga build your core. These exercises are especially amazing tools for banishing belly flab! As you’re doing them they may not feel like much, you may even think some of it is a bit silly, but trust me- you will definitely feel it the next day!

The Elliptical machine is ideal for when the weather isn’t comfortable enough to be outside. It’s easy on the knees, targets your butt, and allows you to pick the pace, resistance and incline that feel right for you.

For an extra element of fun, find some ways to include the kids! Exercise can be a family event, and they usually need it as much as adults do. Exercise will help your children diffuse excess energy levels, be more agreeable with each other, focus their attention, get better grades, boost their immunity and improve their self-esteem. Childhood Diabetes has become an epidemic in America, and as a parent, you are responsible for the health of your children! So go enjoy your back yard or a nice, grassy park! Laugh it up over a game of tag or football. Invent a wacky new way to race each other. Play with your kids; they will love you for it!

Exercise doesn’t have to be grueling. It can be fun if you decide to start experiencing your workouts in a positive manner. Of course, making healthy food choices will help you get your desired results quicker, and any exercise is more beneficial than none at all! So get out there if you haven’t given exercise an honest attempt. You have nothing to lose but the extra pounds!

Make A List and RELAX!

Filed under: Beauty Secrets — Administrator @ 9:46 am

How many of you grew up on the idea that like all Princesses, your personal Prince Charming would come along, sweep you off your feet, and take you to your new beautiful castle where all the cleaning and housework would be cheerfully done by whistling birds and cute little mice and bunnies? Did you also grow up believing that you’d have that fabulous Princess figure, with perfect skin and a dazzling smile to accessorize your face of flawless features?

We all wanted to grow up to be a Princess because it looked so easy, so fun and so beautiful. You never see cartoon princesses having to suffer at the gym because her butt is getting too big, or having to work two jobs to put her through school. Those princesses have never had PMS, or bad hair, or fits of depression that drive them to eat an entire quart of ice cream. They never age a day past 18 years old, and they even get Fairy Godmothers when times are hard. Somehow, by being a Princess, one can escape the common realities of being a “Real Girl”.

Hmmmmm. Where exactly is my Fairy Godmother when I need her? Oh, that’s right; she’s nowhere to be found because SHE DOESN’T EXIST!!! That doesn’t mean we should throw away the ideas we hold about how nice it must be to feel like a Princess.

So what’s a girl to do when the castle has been overrun by messy trolls, the bills are piled up higher than the laundry , the meals don’t prepare themselves, work is calling the baby is crying and no matter what you do, you just can’t seem to get rid of that extra 10 pounds? Do you ever wish you could stuff yourself in a pumpkin just to get five minutes to yourself?

This is how you know when it’s time to be your own Fairy Godmother! That’s right! What would your life look like if you had a magical wand? Have some fun with this idea… make a list!

All the wand wishes that you could actually do yourself, like wishes for a clean house, to be in shape or having the taxes done… do them. JUST DO THEM. Stop procrastinating and get them done, you’ll feel so much better! You’ll feel lighter, freer and you’ll have an excellent reason to reward yourself. Once you get those yucky chores out of the way treat yourself to some Real Girl Princess pampering!

It’s important that we reward ourselves especially when we’ve accomplished a task that was big, or looming or scary. If you’re on a budget, your reward doesn’t need to be expensive… just relaxing. Very, VERY relaxing. It could be a new novel, a glass of wine and a long soak in the tub. It could be a new outfit, fresh flowers, a massage or a creative workshop. A walk in the woods is every bit as good as treating yourself to dinner and a movie if it’s what relaxes you. What makes you feel good to be alive? Reward yourself with that!

Establishing these kinds of healthy mental habits will actually help you to shed pounds! How? A healthy mental outlook creates a healthy physical body! Think about how you feel when you have things you want or need to get done, but for whatever reason, it’s just not happening. You can feel the dread in your physical body, it actually weighs you down.

Unfinished, incomplete projects zap motivation, and if left in the pools of procrastination will rob you of your energy. All those times you thought about getting something done and didn’t, are times you used your energy to resist that which you did not want to deal with. All that resisting will cause a person to feel stuck. Feeling stuck is not beneficial to your overall health or general well-being. Feeling stuck in any area of your life will not only NOT help you to get thin, it will actually put you in a mind frame TO GAIN. This happens when negative thoughts and emotions keep piling up, and piling up and piling up. That negativity you feel weighs you down as you repeatedly embody it day in and day out. People eat excessively at times as a means to relieve the pain caused by being bombarded with feelings of anger, fear and disappointment. It’s a snowball effect, and the only way to break it is to get UNSTUCK!

Think about all the areas where you feel stuck in your life. Ask yourself how you got there, and why you’re choosing to stay. You’re only a victim if you say you are, and it’s always and ONLY your choice. Would you like to experience instant relaxation and get some feel good tools to help you clear the clutter of your mind? It’s as easy as listening to a CD and the correlation between stress and weight problems is proven. You can have Instant Relaxation from toxic stress NOW! Once you’ve done that, custom design a game plan that works for you. Take charge of your life! Prince Charming isn’t going to save you, so you’re going to have to save yourself! You are your own Fairy Godmother!

Round up your problems and tackle them, one at a time. Get rid of them! Banish, solve, or handle them. Chip away at them until they are gone, and then celebrate your success! The more functional you are, the freer you become. The freer you become, the lighter you’ll feel. The lighter you feel, the lighter you’ll be! Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too!

So ready your wand to make some magic happen in your life. Get the things done that should be done by you, and celebrate by treating yourself like a Princess.
